Frequently asked questions

1.      What is a User Group?

A User Group is normally formed by ex- or ‘stable’ drug users and addicts. (By drugs we mean alcohol, solvents caffeine, etc as well as heroin, crack and all the usual suspects). They try to find ways local services can be improved; inform decision-making processes from the Users perspective and advocate for Drug/Service Users not happy with certain elements of their treatment delivery.

2.      What can morph do for people?

We hold weekly meetings open to anyone, and welcome new ideas or suggestions for user/ex-user support

Offer an Advocacy Service for individuals needing help with treatment.

We are setting-up Hep C Awareness and OD Prevention workshops.

We do local User Consultations to find out what people want

Represent users on local committees concerned with Drug Treatment and it’s delivery

We operate a ‘100% consensus’ decision-making process – we do what we all want to do.

3.      If I’m still taking drugs can I get involved?

     Yes!

All we ask is that if you’re coming to a meeting you keep it together, and don’t come “out of it”

We are a non-judgemental organisation and from personal experience recognise if people are going to stop – it’ll be when they want to – not anyone else. We are simply trying to get better services for those who require help, some advice, a script or sterile equipment.

If we can inform those providing drug services what their Service Users think – it can only be of benefit.

Come down and see us at The Voluntary Action Centre in Kingsland Square, St Marys, Southampton.

Have a cuppa and a chat; find out what we can do for you – or what you can do for addicts!
